TesLA Webinar: Automating the Provisioning and Configuration of Test Architectures

The second in a series of webinars by TesLA is happening this week.  I’m excited because I’ll be speaking on the challenges with automating test architectures, and how I believe TesLA will help solve these challenges.  In particular, I’m looking forward in discussing interoperability standards and the challenges now with automating different devices all in one test architecture.

Stop by and join us this Thursday at 10AM PST – link to webinar below.

Hope to see you there!

Webinar Details:

Thurs., May 14 @ 10 a.m. PST – 2nd Installment of TesLA Webinar Series, Steve Mitchell of F5 (TesLA CAB member)

different devices all in one architecture?…is it even possible?…are you talking about an automation framework of some sorts?

    Loron,

We’ll be talking about frameworks, but the most important part that we’ll be talking about is a set of open standards for different parts within a framework.

Right now it’s possible with some vendors to combine different pieces of test equipment and have them talk together or work together in some way. Almost always it’s limited in some way, most likely because Vendor A and Vendor B have some overlapping functionality, or they just have completely different approaches to automation, and don’t talk the same language.

What we’re proposing, and have been working on for some time, is a set of open standards that would allow people to design products, products to be tested, and frameworks (homegrown or otherwise) that can use a standard language and format to exchange information. This could be as simple as a traffic generator communicating with a scheduling system, or more complicated with many other devices.

It seems that the recording of the webinar had difficulties – the folks who were coordinating it are working with the company responsible to attempt to clean it up and get it posted ASAP. I’ll post more details here when I find out.
